Another defeat for Chelsea after loss to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge this evening, with Matheus Cunha’s first-half strike proving decisive in a tightly contested Premier League encounter.

Despite dominating large periods of the match and creating several clear opportunities – including hitting the crossbar twice in the second half – the Blues were unable to find a way past a resilient United defence. Bruno Fernandes provided the assist for Cunha’s 43rd-minute goal, which came just before the interval and ultimately settled the contest.

This result extends Chelsea’s challenging run of form, as the team has now failed to score in their last four Premier League matches. It also marks the fourth defeat under head coach Liam Rosenior in recent outings, further denting hopes of securing a top-five finish and Champions League qualification this season. Manchester United, meanwhile, moved 10 points clear in the race for a top-four spot.

Liam Rosenior, Chelsea Head Coach:

“We’re disappointed with the result tonight. The players gave everything and showed real fight, particularly in the second half where we created good chances. But we have to be more clinical in those key moments. The goal drought is a concern, and we’re working hard as a group to address our attacking output while maintaining our defensive structure. There’s still work to do, but this squad has quality and character – we’ll regroup and prepare for the remaining fixtures.”

Chelsea remain in sixth place in the Premier League table with five games left to play. The club will now focus on recovery and analysis ahead of the next Premier League fixture.
