Peter Schmeichel expects Chelsea to sack Liam Rosenior

 Graham Potter lost 11 of 31 matches as Chelsea manager. Well, Rosenior has already lost nine games since taking over at Stamford Bridge. So, will the board sack Rosenior this summer, or possibly before?

Reports suggest Chelsea are sticking by Rosenior and in fairness to the former Hull and Strasbourg boss, Chelsea were improved against Man United. There was an element of luck to Man United’s 1-0 victory.

But Schmeichel is having none of it. Speaking to Premier League Productions on the weekend, the Dane believes Chelsea will sack Rosenior soon and expects an announcement in the not-too-distant future.

“I have no idea what the plan with him is. But going by what Glenn is saying and what Chelsea normally does, he’s probably gone,” Schmeichel said, when asked if he thinks Chelsea will sack their manager.

Chelsea are now seven points behind Liverpool in sixth place, and are seriously looking over their shoulder with the likes of Everton, Brentford and Tuesday’s opponents Brighton pushing for Europe.

Champions League qualification looks likely to be out of the question, unless Aston Villa can win the Europa League and finish fifth, which would mean sixth position then becomes a Champions League spot.

Rosenior looks set to remain in the hotseat even if Chelsea do not get Champions League football. But what happens if Chelsea fail to win European football whatsoever? It’s becoming an increasing possibility.

Financially, qualifying for the Europa League at least takes the edge off missing out on Champions League football, especially if Chelsea go deep into the competition. But none at all puts Rosenior’s job in doubt.
