Everton legend Peter Reid has praised Jordan Henderson for his exceptional football intelligence, experience, and ability to guide teammates during matches.
Reid highlighted how Henderson’s understanding of the game allows him to remain influential on the pitch, particularly through his ability to anticipate danger and make intelligent decisions under pressure.
According to the former Everton midfielder, experience becomes increasingly important as players get older, and Henderson possesses the tactical awareness needed to continue making a significant contribution.
Reid also stressed that players learn valuable lessons during competitive matches, not just through instructions from coaches in training. He believes Henderson’s presence on the pitch helps younger teammates understand situations as they unfold.
One of Henderson’s biggest strengths, Reid explained, is his ability to recognise danger early, read developing situations, and predict where the ball is likely to go before others react.
His assessment underlines the value of experienced midfielders who offer more than technical ability, bringing leadership, tactical discipline, and guidance that can benefit an entire team.
For Chelsea, Henderson’s experience and game awareness could prove increasingly valuable as the club continues building consistency and developing its young players.
