Gary Neville has criticised Chelsea’s lack of discipline following their disappointing 2-0 Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, calling on head coach Xabi Alonso to regain control of his players.

Chelsea endured a frustrating afternoon as Tottenham secured a victory, with tensions rising during the contest. The Blues’ conduct on the pitch became a major talking point, particularly following a series of heated incidents involving their players.

Neville was particularly unhappy with Morgan Rogers’ challenge, believing the Chelsea attacker was fortunate not to receive a red card.

“I think that’s a red. I do. He’s absolutely wellied him with no intent. That’s ludicrous from Rogers,” Neville said.

The former Manchester United defender also expressed concern about the overall behaviour of Chelsea’s players, suggesting emotions had taken over and that Alonso needed to intervene.

“They have lost it. Xabi Alonso needs to get them off,” he added.

Neville also questioned Cole Palmer’s involvement in an altercation with Mateus Fernandes, arguing that the Chelsea star was lucky to escape a straight red card.

The incidents have raised further questions about Chelsea’s composure during high-pressure matches. While the defeat itself will be a concern for Alonso, the disciplinary issues could prove equally frustrating as he looks to establish greater consistency within his squad.

Chelsea must now respond positively, with Alonso facing the task of ensuring his players remain focused and disciplined rather than allowing frustration to affect their performances in crucial moments.
