Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has reaffirmed the club’s ambition to return to the summit of English and European football, while stressing that success will require time and careful planning.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Alonso acknowledged Chelsea’s recent history of winning major honours, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. He made it clear that restoring the club to that level remains a shared objective, but warned against expecting an immediate transformation.
“We want to get back to winning,” Alonso said.
The Spaniard highlighted Chelsea’s achievements in recent years as evidence of the standards the club wants to reach again. However, he understands that rebuilding a team capable of consistently challenging for the biggest prizes cannot happen overnight.
Alonso’s message reflects a long-term approach focused on making the right decisions, developing the squad and building a team capable of competing for trophies again.
Chelsea supporters will be eager to see their side return to challenging for the Premier League title and the Champions League, competitions the club has won in the past.
For Alonso, the ambition is clear, but patience and consistent progress will be essential as Chelsea work towards reclaiming their place among Europe’s elite.
