Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers has admitted that improving his finishing remains a major priority as he looks to become a more clinical attacker.

The Blues star believes he has previously struggled to convert straightforward opportunities, despite his ability to score spectacular goals. He is now working to become more ruthless in front of goal and improve his decision-making in attacking situations.

Rogers explained that he had been disappointed with his inability to consistently take easier chances, even when producing moments of individual brilliance.

He said: “I think being more clinical in front of goal, being more ruthless in and around the box, is something that previously I was a bit disappointed in myself because I’d score a nice goal every once in a while, but I wouldn’t score the easy goals. I’m trying to work on that here.”

The Chelsea attacker also highlighted the importance of improving his final actions, whether that means scoring, creating chances or providing assists for his teammates.

Rogers added: “I’m trying to improve in my final actions, so that’s my biggest one. I’m an attacker, so I try to score goals and assist and create chances, and I want to keep improving. I’m not there yet, but it’s a good start!”

Despite acknowledging that there is still room for improvement, Rogers remains encouraged by his progress at Chelsea.

His determination to become more effective in the final third will be an important part of his development as he continues to establish himself as a key attacking player for the Blues.
