Chelsea’s project under Xabi Alonso is reportedly becoming increasingly attractive to top players, with former Blues defender Ashley Cole highlighting the appeal of the club’s direction despite the absence of Champions League football.
Cole’s reported assessment reflects the growing optimism surrounding Chelsea as Alonso continues to shape the team and establish his tactical identity. The club’s ability to attract high-quality players without competing in Europe’s premier club competition would represent an encouraging sign of progress.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge. Reports suggest the midfielder is keen on joining Chelsea rather than Liverpool, although a possible reunion with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola could present an alternative attraction.
Chelsea’s midfield remains an area that could benefit from further investment. Scott could offer additional technical quality and energy alongside established options such as Moisés Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Jordan Henderson, should the club decide to pursue a deal.
There is also growing excitement about the attacking potential of Alonso’s squad. João Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer have provided reasons for optimism, while Pedro Neto’s improving performances could give Chelsea another important attacking dimension.
At the other end of the pitch, the potential defensive combination of Levi Colwill, Maxence Lacroix and Josh Acheampong offers an intriguing foundation for Alonso to develop further.
However, Chelsea’s progress will ultimately depend on consistency, squad balance and their ability to compete against the strongest teams over an entire season.
For now, the possibility of attracting players such as Scott, combined with the emerging quality within the squad, gives Chelsea supporters reasons to be optimistic about the direction of the club under Alonso.
If Chelsea can maintain their momentum and strengthen the right areas, the Blues could become an increasingly compelling destination for ambitious players looking to be part of a developing project.
