Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, thanks to second-half goals from Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer.

The Blues secured all three points in a dramatic encounter that saw both teams have goals disallowed before United were reduced to ten men following Lisandro Martinez's dismissal.

After suffering consecutive defeats in the league and Carabao Cup, Xabi Alonso's side responded with an impressive performance to give their supporters something to celebrate.

Rogers Breaks the Deadlock in Style

The first half was an entertaining contest, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to find the breakthrough.

Chelsea thought they had taken the lead through Estevao Willian, who converted a rebound after Senne Lammens had saved Pedro Neto's effort. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.

Manchester United also came close to scoring, but their attempts were either denied by Mike Penders or failed to find the target.

The visitors appeared to have broken the deadlock shortly before half-time when Matheus Cunha headed home from close range. A VAR review, however, confirmed that the Brazilian was offside, and the goal was disallowed.

Chelsea made the most of the reprieve after the interval.

Five minutes into the second half, Romeo Lavia won possession in midfield and released Rogers, who drove forward before beating Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez with a brilliant run into the penalty area.

The England international then produced a composed finish over Lammens to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.

Palmer Doubles Chelsea's Advantage

Chelsea continued to dominate after taking the lead, putting Manchester United under increasing pressure.

Their advantage was extended in the 64th minute following a VAR intervention. Martinez was penalised for an elbow on Wesley Fofana during a corner, resulting in a penalty for Chelsea.

The United defender received his second yellow card of the match and was sent off, leaving the visitors with ten men.

Palmer stepped up and confidently converted the spot-kick to make it 2-0, putting Chelsea firmly in control of the contest.

The Blues thought they had scored a third when Estevao finished off a move involving Palmer, but another VAR review ruled the goal out for offside.

Despite the disappointment, Chelsea remained comfortable and continued to threaten the United goal.

Chelsea See Out the Victory

Manchester United attempted to mount a late response, with Bryan Mbeumo striking the crossbar during stoppage time.

Penders produced an important touch to help divert the effort onto the woodwork, ensuring Chelsea maintained their clean sheet.

Alonso made several late substitutions as the Blues managed the closing stages and secured a valuable victory.

The result gives Chelsea a much-needed boost following their recent setbacks and provides positive momentum ahead of their next Premier League fixture.

What's Next for Chelsea?

Chelsea will now turn their attention to their upcoming league match against Sunderland on 8 November, with Alonso hoping his players can build on this performance and maintain their winning momentum.

The Blues will also be encouraged by the return of Palmer to the scoresheet and Rogers' outstanding contribution in midfield, as they look to continue their push up the Premier League table.
