Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has questioned Xabi Alonso’s management of Chelsea youngster Estevão, suggesting the Brazilian’s limited involvement could be linked to his performances in training.

Murphy acknowledged that he could be wrong about the situation, but believes a player with Estevão’s exceptional talent, pace and technical ability should be given opportunities to showcase his qualities.

He also highlighted the growing popularity of the young attacker among Chelsea supporters, arguing that Alonso must have a strong reason for limiting his involvement, particularly given the potential criticism that could follow.

Murphy’s comments suggest that while Estevão’s talent is unquestionable, the Chelsea manager may have valid reasons for his current approach, especially if he believes it is necessary for the benefit of the entire squad.
