Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has urged his players to maintain their impressive home record against Tottenham Hotspur, insisting that past results will count for little when the two London rivals meet again.
Alonso acknowledged Chelsea’s history of strong performances in the fixture but stressed that his team must deliver another determined display to keep that run going.
The Spaniard believes the occasion demands more than relying on previous results, with Chelsea needing to combine passion with tactical discipline to overcome their London rivals.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Alonso said he was aware of Chelsea’s record against Spurs but insisted that the focus must remain firmly on the next match.
He explained that the Blues must demonstrate once again that they can sustain their positive run, highlighting the importance of approaching the derby with both heart and intelligence.
For Alonso, the challenge is clear: Chelsea must turn their historical advantage into another strong performance on the pitch.
With local pride at stake, the Blues will be determined to deliver a result that strengthens their standing in this fiercely contested London rivalry.
