Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has spoken positively about his time in charge of Real Madrid, describing the experience as an important chapter in his coaching career despite the disappointing outcome.

The Spanish tactician acknowledged that managing the Spanish giants provided valuable lessons, highlighting the unique demands and expectations that come with leading one of football’s biggest clubs.

Alonso made it clear that he holds no bitterness towards his former club, preferring to focus on the effort he put into the job and the knowledge he gained during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu.

For the Chelsea boss, the experience was about giving everything he could, learning from the challenges and using those lessons to improve as a manager.

His comments reflect a willingness to move forward without allowing a difficult period to define his career. After previously enjoying considerable success with Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso is now focused on building his Chelsea project and helping the Blues reach their potential.

Although his spell at Real Madrid did not unfold as he had hoped, Alonso continues to recognise the privilege of coaching at such a historic institution.

His time in Madrid may have ended sooner than expected, but the experience has offered lessons he can carry into his next chapter at Stamford Bridge.
