Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has identified the 2-0 victory over Everton as one of the performances that came closest to his expectations for the team, although he believes there is still room for improvement.
Chelsea delivered a disciplined display at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Pedro Neto scoring twice to secure all three points. The result also marked a significant defensive milestone, as the Blues kept their first Premier League clean sheet in 23 matches.
Despite the impressive performance, Alonso believes his side has yet to reach the level of completeness he is seeking.
Reflecting on the game, the Spanish coach praised the team's seriousness and solidity but made it clear that further progress is needed.
"Everton away was a solid and serious performance, but a complete performance is still something we are working towards," Alonso explained.
His comments suggest that while Chelsea have shown encouraging signs under his leadership, consistency across all areas of the game remains a priority.
Alonso will now look for his players to build on that performance as they continue their push for success this season.
